Spring bulbs
Daylily Reblooming Collection Use them in a perennial border, in front of shrubbery, as an edging along a walk or wall, and in your bulb beds, where they hide the ripening foliage of tulips and daffodils. Each plant sends up many flower stems, and each stem bears 12 or more buds. Bloom is lavish and continues for several weeks or more on each plant. The re-blooming Daylily Collection, 'Hemerocallis', contains 5 plants, 1 each of Daylily 'Twilight Secrets', Daylily 'Blueberry Cream', Daylily 'Thundering Ovation', Daylily 'Wild Horses' and Daylily 'Lacy Doily'. Daylilies are the perfect perennial. Plants 18-24" apart. They need dividing only every 10-15 years.
Peony Tree Shimane Island Collection There are also tree peonies with yellow or purple flowers. Growing only 4-5' tall, these exceptional Tree Peonies are sub-zero hardy and bloom for a lifetime. This has been variously translated but probably means 'The Emperor Flower'. Japanese tree peonies tend to have less double flowers than their Chinese peers, and the flowers are more open and delicate. We're not sure what the penalty was for infringing this law, but it can't have been very pleasant.
