Hosta - Sum and Substance

With a plant height of 36” and a spread of 60”, Hosta’s provide bright color in shade with wonderful foliage. ‘Sum and Substance’ does require some sun to enhance its golden color. This low care perennial is ideal for shady positions, tubs and patio pots, and is one of the most popular landscapeplants. A great choice for any beginner gardener. ‘Sum and Substance’ was named Hosta of the Year in 2004, and one can see why. This Hosta is slug resistant and a vigorous grower. The Hosta Sum and Substance, 'Hosta', has large, rounded leaves with heavy puckering. The flowers are on 50” scapes, making it one of a kind. The lavender flowers bloom from July to August, however, Hosta’s are not known for their flowers. Tiarella - Sea Foam Foam Flower ‘Sea Foam’ has a plant height of 6-8” and a plant spread of 14”. Best of all, the coloration is more intense during the winter months, not to mention being lightly fragrant. PPAF. ‘Sea Foam’ has deeply cut fuzzy green foliage. They can be planted as a ground cover or mingled with other shade loving plants. Cream flowers appear in the summer; however, Tiarella’s are not noted for their flowers.
