A Real Shady Blend

Soil must be kept moist while the seeds are germinating and beginning to grow. In mild climates, sow seed during cooler months, generally October through March. If you have high, filtered shade from trees or an area that gets direct sun for only a few hours a day, this shady blend of flowers will provide color and interest with as little as four hours of sun. )In cool climates plant in the spring, 1 to 2 weeks before the last average frost date. Zinnia - Canary Bird Zinnia elegans prefer rich, deep and well drained soil. For best results mix a high phosphorus, low nitrogen fertilizer in with the soil. For long hot summers, nothing beats zinnias for brilliant bloom color and long bloom period. Plant in late spring, about two week after average last frost. Canary Bird Zinnias are great for cut and dried flowers and are also excellent in large pots and containers.
